Name | #MusicMonday

This weeks music Monday is by my favourite band originating in the 80s that considered being called "The Suicide Doors" but decided to go for something on the other end of the spectrum (haha).

'Name' - Goo Goo Dolls

I constantly have their songs on repeat whenever I am on the computer, tidying my room or even heading down to the store. Wherever and whenever. I love this band.

The Goo Goo Dolls are a rock band that formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. The bands original members included John Rzeznik, vocalist and guitarist, Robby Takac, bassist and vocalist and drummer George Tutuska until 1994 then Mike Malinin took over from 1995 to December 2013.

Many may be familiar with this band due to their huge success with the 1998 single 'Iris' but despite this they have had more that just the one popular single. Others include my favourites 'Name', 'Black Balloon' and 'Slide'.
Over time the Goo Goo Dolls have had 14 top ten singles on various charts and have sold over 10 million albums worldwide!

Their biggest hit 'Iris' from the City of Angels soundtrack ranked #1 on Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs 1992-2012" chart in October 2012. Which also included hits 'Slide' at #9 and 'Name' at #24.
The band's newest album, Magnetic, was released on June 11, 2013 and includes another favourite of mines, 'Come To Me'.

And just like John Rzeznik said himself; whilst the world continues to move so much faster and splinters in a hundred different directions with the many different distractions, it can be hard to get people to stop and actually listen to what you are actually doing. However, Robby Takac and himself must be doing a lot of things right which shows as fans have continued to support them and stick with them from day one whilst picking up even more along the way!

If you haven't already checked them out, do so, and continue to follow and support this wonderful band! :)
