JUST A DREAM || MUSIC MONDAY

With everything that has happened within 24 hours in Orlando, Florida, I am left with no words. We grieve the brutal murder of many innocent people. We pray for their families who are searching answers, yet are left with broken hearts. The death of Christina Grimmie, then those victims of the night club shooting out of an act of hate. It’s especially devastating for those who are apart of the LGBT* community for the nightclub is a place of empowerment and where people come together to speak their minds, and to support their civil rights. Regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation, this is an attack on not just the victims, nor just America, but the world as a whole. Not only that but it’s an attack on the fundamental values of life, equality, and dignity.

But this wasn't to turn into a negative post. I wanted to share with you something very beautiful. Like many already know even just from my last post, I was a fan and supporter of Christina Grimmie. I grew up watching and listening to her since I was 12 and she even introduced me to other artists across the board that I never heard of before.

As I went onto Youtube and checked my subscriptions on Sunday I saw a video uploaded 1 hour prior from singer-songwriter, Sam Tsui - another artist I've followed for the past 6+ years. It was an acoustic cover of ‘Just A Dream’ that both Sam and Christina covered with Kurt Schneider 5 years ago. This is the cover that always comes to mind when I hear her name and when I really became aware of just how talented she was and how missed she'll be.

Christina, you had an incredible and inspired talent that will never be forgotten, and we will miss you dearly and forever. And to those victims of the club shooting, my heart goes out to you also at this very tragic time.
