SOME BODY FROM SUPERDRUG *

Superdrug, have launched an amazing range called SOME BODY. It’s wellness based and is designed to encourage everyone to make better and healthier choices when it comes to snacking and their overall nutrition. The range includes protein powders, flavoured water and a few choices of yummy snacks - which are packed with natural ingredients and are easy to grab when on the go!

With Superdrug being my number one high street store (in the last 18 months I’ve spent over 500 quid in the store…my points card doesn't lie!), I was over the moon when I was offered the opportunity to partner up with them and was then sent a few of their products to give a go!

First up is their SOME BODY Sports Bellini Flavoured Sparkling Water priced at £1.79.
This mocktail inspired flavoured drink is zero calories and zero sugar, but packed with flavour! It’s super minty and extremely refreshing, though I must admit, I’m not really one for sparkling water. I would definitely say it needs to be chilled, which is a bummer if you want to pick one up in the store to drink straight away as I’ve noticed (in the one uptown anyways) they are not stored in the refrigerators but instead with the rest of the range on the shelves which I also get. I took chilling the drink further and froze the drink, which I actually much preferred! It of course took some of the fizz away but worked really well and is definitely a great option on warm days like what we have been experiencing! The sparkling water also comes in watermelon and Bellini.

I was very curious about trying this as I normally don't go for salted flavoured things. The protein bar is made from 100% natural ingredients and is high in protein, low sugar (no added sugar too), and is soya and gluten free.

On my first bite I did screw up my face slightly but only because I wasn't sure what to expect and was a bit confused with the taste. It’s oddly really nice, but I’m not sure how much of the salted fudge was coming through as it’s possible the cacao was slightly overpowering. However, the tasty bar does help curb hunger and sustain energy! For only £1.49, it’s a great grab-and-go option!

The natural bar is also available in the flavour Cocoa and Orange as well as a newly released protein bars in Chocolate Peanut and Caramel Crisp (£1.79).

I have a slight obsession with protein powder -  I just buy, buy, buy! What’s great about this protein powder is that it’s suitable for vegetarians! As a vegetarian I don't eat meat or fish and my intake of dairy is low so I have either one or two protein shakes a day to supplement for the lack of both protein and calcium. This particular protein powder is not as good as powders from specialised fitness brands or those at the higher end but nonetheless, for the money, it is a very viable choice!

The protein powder doesn't come with a scoop which isn't a major problem if you’re like me and have plenty of scoops from other protein powders, but if you don’t, it might be a bit of a hassle.

The powder itself isn’t disgusting at all but is very sweet - you just have to smell it to know! I added the powder to a shaker bottle alongside some almond milk. It did go lumpy at first but soon smoothed out with a little extra effort and shake (if you don't have a shaker bottle (with a mental ball) then removing the lumps might be more difficult). I would recommend adding fruit or trying the powder in a recipe instead of just having it as a simple protein shake, as I did find that about two thirds in it got a bit sickly.

The Whey Protein Powder is also available in the flavours; banana, strawberry and chocolate.

Overall, each product has it’s pros and cons (though very minor), but for the prices I think the range is a very good option. The sparkling waters are a great alternative to sugary fizzy drinks, and the same goes for their protein bars which could substitute those cravings for chocolate.

The SOMEBODY range is available online & in-store which also includes protein pancake mixes, detox and cleanse teas, protein shakes and popcorn.
