Recently Hair by JFK got in touch and asked if I’d like a free cut & blow dry or hair up in return for my honest review on their service. Of course I would have jumped to the offer, but replied with my apologies as I had my appointment at my usual hairdressers coming up in just a few days. Instead, they kindly booked my mum in to receive the haircut which was perfect as her hairdresser recently moved, and by moved I don't mean salons but out the country, so she was on the search for a reputable salon and more particularly someone who could cut curly hair.

Yeah, on the surface ASMR videos are totally weird. Whispering, caressing pages of a book, sweeping makeup brushes against a microphone, slow hand movements as if they were stroking your face; all that plus more. If you don't understand what ASMR is or the feeling it brings, these kind of videos will just seem very awkward and creepy. If that happens to be the case I highly recommend that you read my latest post on the topic, ASMR & Brain Orgasms : Why people love it, first then come back here with an open mind.

It’s completely okay if you don't enjoy ASMR triggering videos, it's expected as it’s only a small minority who have ASMR. For those who don't get it or are just coming across it now, don't be quick to judge. The videos may seem weird, strange and unusual to you, but that might just be the thing that helped someone else overcome a serious panic attack or helped them to get five hours of sleep when they would usually struggle getting two.

It's World Mental Health Day. The day where we focus on what's going on in our heads and try to raise as much awareness of illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar - much like what we should be doing every day anyways.

According to the Office for National Statistics, people living in Scotland are happier than those living in other parts of the UK. Apparently we are "the most satisfied". Nonetheless, that does not mean that we can't feel low or struggle with mental health. In fact, mental illness is one of the major health challenges in Scotland.

Alerts, notifications, pings - the sounds that send an anxious shiver through our body. But what if there was a way using technology, in which we could find it relaxing, and even comforting?

I’m not a big fan of physical contact. I don't like when someone sits next to me on the bus, making me feel suffocated and closed in against the window; I don't like how close the dentist has to get to my face when he’s pulling at the corners of my mouth to get a better look at my teeth; I can’t stand it when someone is sitting next to me on the sofa and their shoulder or arm is against mine; I even feel a frisson when someone touches something belonging to me. With that said, I do like a good hug now and then, usually at the end of the night after spending some time with friends or with a family member. Other than that, it all seems a bit ‘up close and personal’ for me to be comfortable with. Yet recently, I discover a new form of intimacy that I’m kind of here for.

Dear Demi,

I was around 13 and in my third year of high school. I didn't have a lot of friends I could really count on, which caused me to become my own worst critic, analysing my external appearance day after day and acquiring very unhealthy habits. I always kept these self critical thoughts private. Keeping the battle I was fighting entirely in my own head.

Because this is a no judgment zone, today I’m celebrating nine years since Glee first aired on TV!
Although the show didn't start broadcasting weekly until September, four months earlier on May 19th 2009 the Pilot was aired giving us a first look at the all singing, all dancing, often cheesy show.

Superdrug, have launched an amazing range called SOME BODY. It’s wellness based and is designed to encourage everyone to make better and healthier choices when it comes to snacking and their overall nutrition. The range includes protein powders, flavoured water and a few choices of yummy snacks - which are packed with natural ingredients and are easy to grab when on the go!

With Superdrug being my number one high street store (in the last 18 months I’ve spent over 500 quid in the store…my points card doesn't lie!), I was over the moon when I was offered the opportunity to partner up with them and was then sent a few of their products to give a go!

Sometimes emotions can become difficult to handle and overwhelming. When I was younger I struggled deciphering how exactly I felt which lead me to that dark place we hear others talk about but never want to go to ourselves. I didn't know how to vent, or deal with the mix of emotions and feelings. Anger, sadness, fear, worry, excitement, happiness. It would get too much.

Five years ago, I began speaking to someone about my feelings and what I was putting myself through. I had just turned 15 and I had been in a constant battle with myself to the point my mum realised the extent and insisted I spoke to someone who could help. I turned to my guidance teacher at school who had supported me through a lot before. He referred me to a counsellor who came into the school each week and within a week or so, I was making my way along the corridor every Thursday to speak to someone I had never met before.

Courtney Act. Oh my goodness, where to start? I absolutely love her.

Like every year, when Celebrity Big Brother comes to our television, I have no interest or intent to watch it. I barely even watch television, but when I do, it’s for shows such a RuPaul’s Drag Race and Once Upon A Time. Like many who watch Drag Race, I have my all-time favourites such as Alaska, Willam, Sharon Needles…Courtney Act. So when I heard Shane Jenek (a.k.a Courtney Act) would be entering the house, you bet I got all hyped up - majorly - and tuned into CBB straight away!

After falling in love with Shane / Courtney Act on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2014, I’m so glad to see Shane taking the opportunity on CBB to educate the other housemates - and the whole public - on a range of issues surrounding gender fluidity, sexuality and identity politics. In the space of a couple of days Courtney Act went viral and has become a favourite for not just the mishap of an entrance with her skirt falling to the ground…twice, but for explaining the spectrums of sexuality and gender so perfectly.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a really great Christmas and Hogmanay!

The time of year is upon us where people are in the whole ‘new year, new me’ phase, but not me! Nope. Honestly, 2017 was the best year for me since 2014, if not in my whole life. Which is a coincidence as 17 has been my lucky number since I was seven and has definitely proven it's luck! In the last year I have felt much happier and felt I had a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I no longer felt I was just going through life surviving. Why would I want to change now? Instead, this year I’m focused on improving.

With that being said, I have set myself some resolutions to stick at throughout the year (and no, it doesn't include ‘join a gym’…I already done so about three years ago). These aren't just my New Year resolutions, but also some are from my ’20 things to do at 20’ list I created when I turned… you guessed it, 20, but never got round to sharing them - so some of the following I hope on ticking off by August 28th.
